Friday B.S.: A Little Gay Never Hurt Nobody • Posted 06/13/08
My friend and I went out for drinks last night just as the Red Sox fans were streaming out of Fenway Park after a victory over Baltimore. With Commonwealth Ave at a stand still and my car trapped in the Warren Towers parking lot, the obvious solution was to find a bar, down a pitcher of Summer Ale and talk about men. Okay, so the Celtics game was on the TV screens but it was still the first quarter and the game was looking miserable (who knew?) Out of our conversation about men came this revelation about my dating life: I would probably get more dates if I was more obvious about...well you know, being gay.

Call Me Crazy, But Just Call Me • Posted 06/05/07
A weird, irrational desperation kicks in as I watch my close friends one by one get married and settle in the routines of their adult lives. I have started to think, what is wrong with me? Why am I still single? Why do all my dates end like the last scene in Freddy vs. Jason
Does Your Date Deserve the Hook (Up)? • Posted 03/12/07
I went through a whole period in my mid-twenties where I had one atrocious date story after another. Oh, did I have my friends rolling on the floor as I described the time where my date took off with the umbrella and left me in the pouring rain exactly half way between the T stop and the restaurant we were going to.

NESN, the Boston Red Sox channel, will not only air Sox games this summer, but will also air a dating show that is filmed during the games. The premise of Sox Appeal is sort of speed-dating meets Major League Baseball. One dater gets paired on three blind dates during the game, each lasting two-innings. For the final stretch of the game, the dater picks one of the three to see the end of the game with.

Awhile back, I was in a relationship with Claire, who believed in Being Open With Each Other. Over the course of being open, I found out how many sexual partners she had had, why it didn't work out between her and most of her ex-boyfriends, and lots of other trivia about her pre-me romantic life. On a couple occasions, I asked why she talked about her ex's so much. [ Read The Rest ] Get an Ugly Girl to Marry You • Posted 12/06/06

My friend Josh told me he wanted to marry his girlfriend of over a year. Naturally, I asked why he thought that was such a great idea. "Because she's by far the hottest girl I'll ever get," he said, laughing. I chuckled, too, then wasn't the least bit surprised to learn she dumped him a month later. So first we aimed high by signing up with the biggest online dating site, but the downside of going corporate is the cost. Any service, of the match-making kind or otherwise, is worth the cost if the site delivers the kind of message you want, and the service you are looking for.
But can you get by with a free (or cheap) version of the online dating site? [ Read The Rest ] Getting Into the Game of Love • Posted 11/01/06
So to try out the internet dating scene, I dug myself in by signing up for an online matching site. The online match site.
Everybody who surfs the web has heard of match.com. They are indisputably the largest, the most well-known brand in internet dating, and they snagged Dr. Phil for some cred. My thinking was this: the biggest site equals the most possible matches. [ Read The Rest ] The Best Internet Dating Site for You • Posted 10/06/06
The first step to having success with online dating sites is to pick the best one that works for you. When you begin to look at different websites, you should have a good idea of what you are looking for. There are three central decisions you need to make now.

A Recipe for Romance: Internet Dating • Posted 10/02/06
So I wouldn't be a very good Romance Coach if I didn't address internet dating. Anybody with a computer and an internet connection has considered an online dating site to meet their perfect match. On paper, the recipe is flawless. You make a profile on the site, you pick the criteria that meets your perfect match and then browse through others' profiles that generally meet your criteria.
But if it works so well, we would all be coupled and the online dating services would be out of business. So maybe the formula to find your mate online is missing some ingredients. [ Read The Rest ] |
